Just like the vertical bow industry, there is a difference between how much velocity you can achieve using as light as possible of an arrow versus the typical velocity with a hunting-weight arrow. This test often shows a discrepancy between our results and the promoted velocity. The maximum velocity you will be able to reach with it is 460 feet per second, which is not something a lot of crossbows can do. The next test is to chronograph velocity. More difficult than dry-firing a firearm, this involves cocking the crossbow, loading a bolt, and actually firing it with a trigger pull gauge multiple times to establish an average. The first is the trigger pull measurement. And at our maximum test range of 50 yards there is close to a 3 difference quite a noticeable one. Its engineering and design are undoubtedly like no other. However, it is very powerful and high-tech. It balances great and shoots in my opinion smother than the Velocity. Its a few ounces lighter than the Velocity, but its easier to cock and not much loss in speed. I did not know until Saturday that I could even talk about this bow. At 35 yards, we’re looking at a full 1 difference. This crossbow costs less than 800, which is a tad more expensive than other crossbows. The bow is 1399 and Im going to let Scorpyd do the rest of the numbers. The Specs for the Scorpyd Velocity Crossbow include: 165 version with up to 425 FPS 150 version with up to up to 400 FPS 125 version with up to 370 FPS 7. At 30 yards, however, there is a somewhat noticeable difference of 0.8 in drop. We start by physically taking measurements and weights, using a certified postage scale to ensure accuracy.Īfter the tale of the tape is recorded, we start testing. At up to 25 yards, the difference is barely noticeable. It will shoot 412-414 fps range and weigh in between the vent and velocity. To the best of our knowledge, we are the only magazine that actually tests such a wide range of crossbows this extensively. It will have a couple characteristics of both the vent and velocity with a few changes to make it smoother, more accurate and cock easier to name a couple changes. We don't regurgitate press releases or cater to the best advertiser - this is a true competition in which we judge the bows based on several criteria. We do all the testing in-house so we have complete oversight. Our annual crossbow shootout is undoubtedly the project that takes the most time.
